| 1º Download the free file XPowder_Install.zip |

| 2º Unzip the XPowder_Install.zip file in any folder or in the desktop. The unzipped files will be copied automatically in the XPowder_Install sub-folder. |

| 3º Open the XPowder_Install sub-folder and double click on the xpowder_setup.exe installation icon. |
| |
| 4º Follow the instructions that will appear on the screen. Once the installation is completed it is convenient to create a desktop direct access to the program XPowder.exe. |
| |
| 5º The free download of XPowder PLUS package will be operative for 30 days or 200 diffractograms. |
| |
| 6º In order to continue using the full version of this XPowder or XPowder PLUS is indispensable to buy the user license at XPowder web site and to enter the license code at the XPowder menu bar, Help/XPowder Registration Code. Do not lose this code because it remains valid forever. |

Installation of the ICDD(*) PDF2.DAT database

| 1º Run XPowder. |

2º Select Dates base / PDF2 Install from the menu bar at the main screen (or click the sixth button  in the tool bar) and follow the instructions that will appear on the screen. |

Connecting the PW1700/10...diffractometer (only XPowder PLUS)

| The figure
shows two examples of null-modem cables to link
directly the PC (9 or 25 female pins connector)
to the diffractometer (25 female pins connector).
This cables are rather different to the original,
and the diffractometer connector should be in the
25 pins male position 1 of the PW1712 connector
(This position is the I/O channel. Position 2 is
output only). Remove also the null-modem
box which is delivered with the PW1712 (a 12x4x2
cm approximately black box). For a typical configuration
of jumper and switches for PW1712 card is: 9600
Baud, 8 bits/character, NO parity, echo YES, 1 stop
bit data, the switches must been set as follows:
S13.1=A, S8.2=B, S13.2=B,S14.1=B, S14.2=A,S10.2=A,
S9.1=B, S9.2=B. |
